Basic Shielding In Two Steps

Shielding is one of the basics that you’ll use in a lot of situations, which is why it’s important to get it correct. It’s a good idea to shield even when you think you’re doing something innocuous.

The two steps to shielding are: visualisation and empowerment.

Visualise your shield. The simplest way is imagining an energy bubble all around you. What colour is it? Think of its texture, its lustre, perhaps, and really make it appear in your mind’s eye.

Additionally, consider your intent as well. What purpose do you want this shield to serve? Of course you can say something general like “protection”, but I think it will be more effective if you focus your energy on something specific. This is absolutely not an exhaustive list, but some things you can consider: protection against negative energy, a cleansing presence, or reflecting attacks.

Some people seem to prefer fluid shields that can absorb and rebound unwanted things, while some people have layers upon layers of shielding that all serve different purposes. Or some I heard had energy wrapped around them like mummies. In any case, my point being…your intent and creativity really is the only limit here.

After that, you empower the shield with energy. This can be from somewhere inside you, or external sources if you want. Taste it, feel it flowing through you, before you once again visualise your shield. With your force of will, use this energy to make it come into existence. And there you have it!

If you have problems feeling energy, you can go out into sunlight or moonlight and try experiencing that. And if at any time you feel anxious or disoriented, you should try grounding (classic method is to imagine tree roots connecting you to the earth).
