Normally, people are all about sight and hearing. I was, too, until one day I was relaxing and smelled something lovely. It was my mentor—and he smelled absolutely out of this world! I wanted to recreate it so badly, but it was not possible. There always was something missing…
So, the next step to recover it was to develop my senses…which I should have done in the first place, hah!
Initially, I started with sniffing things that I knew well while in the astral plane. For instance, if you are familiar with the smell of roses, conjure one and try to retrieve its aroma from the troughs of your memory. Regular things. The scent of the sea, perhaps, or the freshness of morning dew, or the musty smell of old books.
From there, you can start exploring more novel scents.
After this, you will require a companion’s help.
One good exercise is to blindfold yourself in all ways (sight, hearing, touch, energetic etc.) and get your companions to let you smell an object. At first it may be good to ask them to use familiar smells that you’ve practiced on, until you can identify them consistently. Then, try smelling your companions. Some do smell quite strange, so choose wisely~
After that, you can move onwards to smell in the physical realm. What I mean by this is to meditate with your companions, but do not enter the astral realm! It’s very easy to slip in, but refrain. If you need to, focus your third eye on your physical surroundings. Then you can grab your companion and try to smell them. Hopefully, your previous exercises will have created a strong enough link.
